“NAVIGATING THE FINANCIAL STORM”

Potential Questions, and Possible Solutions, in Difficult Times

AMR CONSULTING and QUANTUM MANAGEMENT GROUP will be co-hosting a 2-hour seminar, specifically targeted to medium-sized companies with revenues between $1 and $50 million who are surviving the economic downturn but would benefit from:

  • New capital and /or assistance re–engineering their debt and/or balance sheet
  • Operational and cost improvements in administrative and operations areas

The format of this seminar is informational in nature, based on current economic conditions, and also based on examples from companies that we have worked with previously and achieved financial or operational outcomes that met or exceeded the initial mandates and expectations. Participants should expect to gain a better understanding of:

  • Balance sheet re-engineering, i.e. renegotiating lending terms/covenants/conditions as necessary; managing through a forbearance period; or refinancing by raising capital through additional or alternative sources.
  • Working within tight timeframes to construct and execute a rapid response to a liquidity crisis and/or operational challenges to preserve enterprise value.
  • Identification of non-core assets, products and non-value add (or missing) activities which have created a drag on financial and operational performance.


Our presenters for this seminar have extensive experience in each of these areas and have worked with a variety of both challenged and high growth companies in a wide range of industry sectors.

Our assignments typically begin with an immediate assessment of financial performance and capital structure to identify “pain points” and areas where immediate attention is required. The primary objective is to develop solutions to mitigate risk to all stakeholders.

This process entails an analysis of operating performance and financial performance to arrive at a short list of strategic and tactical alternatives. This includes a review of fixed and variable cost structures in the administrative and operational areas. We will rapidly execute your selected alternatives, ensuring quantifiable results and a short-payback period.

The above activities may, as required, include assistance in negotiations with various stakeholders, including secured and unsecured creditors, key suppliers, landlords, shareholders, and outside directors.

Quantum’s Information Technology partner will also be in attendance to respond to questions concerning the implementation of the management information systems to monitor and manage operational productivity.

Subsequent appointments included President, Audit Committee Chair and member of the Independent Committee responsible for managing the eventual sale of the Company in Nov 2005.
Mr. Harris’s 20-year career with CIBC included management level assignments in Branch operations, Audit, Commercial Lending, Risk Management, Human Resources, Knowledge Based Business and Special Projects. His last position was Director KBI – Toronto where he provided specialized financing structures to high growth technology companies.

AMR CONSULTING - Sandy Robertson, Principal

AMR CONSULTING (“AMRC”) was formed to meet the requirement for financial advisory & execution services to small and medium-sized firms. Sandy Robertson is the Principal of the firm, and has an established & proven track record on both the "sell" and "buy" sides of commercial and corporate finance. AMRC is a small, flexible, independent firm specializing in both debt and equity financing for service-based, logistics, manufacturing and other industrial & technology firms, as well as for project financings.
Sandy’s background includes over 20 years in banking, trade finance and integrated financial solutions. Sandy's maintains strong working relationships with the marketing and syndication arms of the Schedule A lenders as well as other bank and non-bank financial sources. He has extensive experience in working alongside other professionals on both sides of the table. Sandy also has established relationships with other capital providers - subordinated debt or equity for early-stage growth companies. Sandy has been involved in several debt restructurings and refinancing over the past 20 years, working with both private and public companies in a wide variety of industries.
